Le lutteur a saisi son adversaire par le cou.
Adjectives can be used to modify a noun or pronoun.
They describe the size, color, or quality of something.

Un adjectif peut être placé avant un nom.
An adjective can be placed before a noun:
Veuillez porter cette chaise verte plus d'à moi (couleur)
Please carry that green chair over to me. (color)
Quelle personne terrible elle est pour le massacre sa propre soeur (qualité)
What a terrible person she is for killing her own sister. (quality)
Un grand homme a marché jusqu'à moi et m'a demandé des directions (taille)
A large man walked up to me and asked me for directions. (size)

Un adjectif composé est constitué en combinant deux mots ou plus dans une unité descriptive simple.
A compound adjective is formed by combining two or more words into a
single descriptive unit.
L'officier de police était bien informé.
The police officer was well-informed.
Elle a fait un travail de première classe et ainsi je l'ai promue.
She did a first-class job and so I promoted her.
La femme a porté un réservoir de 10-gallon de l'eau vers le haut des escaliers.
The woman carried a 10-gallon tank of water up the stairs.

L'adjectif peut suivre après un verbe : (adjectif de complément)
The adjective can follow after a verb: (complement adjective)
Ma mère était très heureuse d'apprendre qu'elle allait être une grand-mère (mère heureuse)
My mother was very happy to hear that she was going to be a grandmother. (happy mother)
Mon chien est vieux et des hops autour sur trois jambes (vieux chien)
My dog is old and hops around on three legs. (old dog)
Mon plus jeune frère est très fâché au sujet de sa voiture étant volée (frère fâché)
My younger brother is very angry about his car being stolen. (angry brother)

Un adjectif peut être créé en ajoutant un suffixe à un mot bas :
An adjective can be created by adding a suffix to a base word:
